July 29: Joshua 13-15

Joshua 13-15

“Only to the tribe of Levi he did not give an inheritance; the offerings by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance” (v14).  As the Israelite tribes each claimed their land, the Levites went to work at the tabernacle.  They had designated cities in each tribal region, but nothing was “theirs” except tabernacle service.  They were different, yet they spiritually represented all Israel.  God’s purpose was to make them all “a kingdom of priests” who found their real reward in Him.

“You are my portion in the land of the living” (Psalm 145:5).  Our real home, our inheritance, is God Himself.
