July 3: II Corinthians 5

II Corinthians 5

“For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaving … in order that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life” (v4). Paul had an unshakeable belief in the joy that awaited all believers in eternity. The early church was in daily danger, so they had to face the reality of death. Paul looked forward to being “at home with the Lord” (v8).

This hope is a continuation of knowing God on earth, because He “prepared us for this very purpose” and “gave to us the Spirit as a pledge” (v5).
