Psalm 110
“Sit at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet” (v1). This psalm speaks of Jesus, the Messiah, the Lord who will rule over all the earth (Matt 22:24). The psalm pictures the Father and Son seated together, completely secure in the knowledge that all enemies will be defeated (v2). As well as King, Jesus is also a priest like mysterious, holy Melchizedek (v4; Heb 7), and leads us into the Father’s presence.
Somehow, despite the troubled present, we are “seated with Him in the heavenly places” (Eph 2:6). Our identity as His children and our future with Him is secure.
