July 5: II Corinthians 10

II Corinthians 10

“For the weapons of our warfare are not according to the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses” (v4).  Paul had no authority over anyone “according to the flesh”.  The government didn’t acknowledge his position, and his power to influence had nothing to do with money or status (v7-11).  Paul’s own deeds backed up his words.  Similarly, he urged believers to “wage war” not with worldly weapons, but with the Spirit and their righteous lives (v2-6).

Nothing is more persuasive and effective than power motivated by love.  This is how God chooses to work in the world, and His “divinely powerful” methods are sufficient for us.
