Luke 9:12-62
“I will follow You wherever you go” (v57). When Jesus called people to follow Him, He didn’t try to soften the challenge or downplay the sacrifice of commitment. “The Son of Man has no place to lay His head” (v58), He warned potential disciples. He cautioned against having a divided heart and trying to fulfill both the world’s expectations and God’s (v59-62). Just as He gave Himself completely for us, He called His disciples to deny themselves, take up their crosses, and follow Him without reservations (v23-25).
When we do, we gain everything (v24-25), “because of His great love with which He loved us” (Eph 2:4).
