July 8: Deuteronomy 26-28

Deuteronomy 26-28

“And the Lord has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession …” (26:18).  As the seed of God’s plan to redeem the world, the people of Israel were called to live radically: by faith obeying God’s commands and trusting in His protection.  Every tithe, every sacrifice, every public proclamation of the Law was an affirmation of God’s authority over their community (26:3-11).

As long as they obeyed “with all your heart and with all your soul” (26:16-17), then God would bless them and “all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord” (28:10).
