Isaiah 45-48
“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth” (45:22). This has been God’s call to humanity since Adam and Eve sinned. In Isaiah’s time, the Babylonians “carried about their wooden idol and prayed to a god who cannot save” (45:20), or consulted the stars and used sorcery to try to control their lives (47:12-15). Ancient or modern, humanity’s rebellion against God usually involves pride: “I am, and there is no one besides me” (47:10).
Anyone, at any time, can respond to God’s call to “turn to Me and be saved.” It begins with laying down our pride and asking for His mercy.
