Job 29-30
“I chose a way for them and sat as chief, and dwelt as a king among the troops … but now those younger than I mock me” (29:25, 30:1). Job had the blessings of good choices: wealth, family, respect, and community power. He described that time as “when the friendship of God was over my tent” (29:4). Now that he was scorned by foolish young men and in pain, Job believed that God was no longer his friend.
But God never stopped being Job’s friend. Though cloaked in mystery, God loved Job before, during, and after his troubles.
