June 1: Isaiah 7-8

Isaiah 7-8

“You are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it” (8:12).  Men and women are often controlled by what they fear.  Isaiah spoke God’s word to King Ahaz of Judah when he was threatened by the joint forces of Damascus and Samaria (northern Israel).  “Take care, and be calm, and have no fear” (7:3).  God wanted Ahaz to trust Him alone, rather than turning to foreign alliances, magic, or false prophets to find the comfort he craved.

God has already conquered everything we fear.  Even death itself cannot destroy us or separate us from His love (Rom 8).
