Deuteronomy 1

“You saw how the Lord your God carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way which you have walked” (1:31).  Israel had a covenant which included rituals and sacrifices, but at the heart was a trust-relationship with God.  Disobedience happened when, as all humans do, Israel removed themselves from fellowship with God and tried to live without Him.  They rebelled when they didn’t believe God was with them.

Through the years in Egypt, through the desert, and into the Promised Land, God carried them.  Faith is believing that He is with us and for us.
