Deuteronomy 3-4
“Then you may return every man to his possession, which I have given you” (3:20). The Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh had been given their parcels of land on the Jordan’s east side (v12-17). The other tribes were preparing to cross the river and engage in battle to possess Canaan. God told the already-settled tribes to fight with their brothers, and when “the Lord gives rest” to everyone, they could return to their east-Jordan homes (v20).
In the community of the Body, life isn’t just about “me”. We are called to help each other on the journey, so that we can find rest together.
