Isaiah 9-10

“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light” (9:2).  This “great light” is Jesus Christ, the “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (v6).  Jesus came to bring hope and life to us as individuals, to break the bondage of sin that holds us captive.  He also came to bring hope to people who live under “evil statutes” and “unjust decisions” (10:1), where laws are either oppressive or ignored (10:2). 

While darkness still troubles our earth, the Light is already shining and victorious.  Person by person, family by family, we can choose to be ruled by the Prince of Peace.
