Psalm 32
“How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!” The psalmist knew what it was like to live under guilt. “When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away … my vitality was drained away” (v3-4). When we hide our failures and try to look good, all of life becomes a struggle. Joy is sucked away by feelings of shame and the efforts of secrecy. But when we acknowledge our sin (v5), God forgives us, and we enter a life of freedom.
Pride is a trap that keeps us isolated from God and one another. Forgiven, we have nothing to hide.
