Luke 5:1-11
“And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him” (v11). The disciples had listened to Jesus’ teaching and seen Him heal Peter’s mother-in-law, yet they were still fishermen. But when Jesus turned their night of failure into two boatloads of fish, something deeply personal happened. Truly seeing Jesus for the first time, Peter exclaimed “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” Now he was ready to leave everything behind.
When the eyes of our hearts are opened, we suddenly see “the surpassing greatness of His power” toward us (Eph 1:18). Then we are willing to follow Him.
