Isaiah 28
“For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception” (v15). Isaiah warned Ephraim and Judah that the judgment of God was coming. God had made a covenant with them, promising “rest to the weary” (v12) if they trusted Him, but they wouldn’t listen. Instead, they “made a covenant with death” (v15) and attempted to find security and power through ungodly methods. Therefore, God said through Isaiah, they would be “broken, snared, and taken captive” (v13).
“Here is rest” (v12). On our own, we will only find trouble, disappointment and exhaustion. Jesus says, “I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28).
