Luke 5:12-39

“Who can forgive sins, but God alone?” (v21).  The Pharisees “began to reason” and called what Jesus was doing and saying “blasphemy.”  Jesus didn’t correct them or soften His words; instead, He physically healed the young man in order “that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” (v24).  What the Pharisees were stumbling upon was the truth: Jesus the Son of God has authority over heaven and earth.

The authority of Jesus Christ is something every human must confront.  As we receive salvation and also every day afterward, our hearts must submit to Him.
