Isaiah 29-30
“Woe to the rebellious children … who execute a plan, but not Mine, and make an alliance, but not of My Spirit” (30:1). God accused the leaders and people of Judah of two things: trusting in the “help” of pagans more than in their God, and performing religious rituals while keeping “their hearts far from Me” (29:13). Coldness of heart and lack of trust led Judah to total rebellion against the God who was their only strength and shield.
There was only one solution: “In repentance and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust is your strength” (30:15).
