June 27: Psalm 34

Psalm 34

“I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears” (v4).  The psalmist tells us to “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (v8).  Tasting and seeing are experiential words, and the psalmist knew that only personal experience is truly convincing.  We can hear about God from others and learn much, but when He delivers us from our fears, He becomes our Father.  We begin to trust Him to supply every “good thing” (v9-10).

When we are brokenhearted, and He is the one who comforts us (v18), we know He is truly good.
