Isaiah 11-13
“And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him …” (11:1-2). Isaiah’s prophecies often collapse various eras or events into one beautiful image. He declares that a child will be born (ch 10), the good King will reign with justice (11:5), and “they will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain” (11:9). While there is a time gap between Jesus the baby and the renewed, peaceful earth, Isaiah’s picture is still ultimately accurate.
Because Jesus came, a process of new life – resurrection – has begun. It will be complete when the earth is “full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (11:9).
