June 4: Proverbs 24

Proverbs 24

“By wisdom a house is built … and by knowledge it is filled with all precious and pleasant riches” (v3-4).  Wisdom includes the ability to make a series of good choices over time.  Our “houses” – our families, our close relationships and responsibilities – are formed over many years by our daily choices.  Choosing quick pleasure today might lead to poverty or conflict later on (v30-34).  In contrast, sowing good seed today (doing what’s most important) leads to a harvest of healthy relationships and satisfaction for years to come (v27).

“Then there will be a future” (v14).  Faithfulness today leads to the peaceful life we desire, even into eternity.
