June 5: Psalm 99

Psalm 99

“O Lord our God, Thou didst answer them; Thou wast a forgiving God to them, and yet an avenger of their evil deeds” (v8).  The roots of our faith go back to Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and others, whose stories teach us what God is like.  “They called upon God, and He answered them” (v6).  Their time and place in history were different than ours, but God was the same.  He cares about justice, and yet He loves mercy (v4).

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He is perfect and holy, yet He always responds mercifully to those who humbly seek Him.
