June 7: II Corinthians 2:1-11

II Corinthians 2:1-11

“Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him” (v8).  While Paul was quite tough about “wolves in sheep’s clothing” – those who deliberately deceived others - he offered forgiveness to those who fell into sin and repented.  In the community of Corinth, apparently one inside the church had “caused sorrow” by his sin (v5).  After some kind of community consequence (v6), Paul wanted the believers to accept this person, so that “excessive sorrow” wouldn’t overwhelm him (v7).

The enemy wants to divide and break down the unity of the Body of Christ.  As we are forgiven, we are called to love and forgive one another.
