June 7: Luke 1

Luke 1

“And he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, while yet in his mother’s womb” (v15).  Luke tells us that when God decided it was time to send the Messiah, one of the marks of His coming was the activity of the Holy Spirit.  John was filled before he was even born, Mary was “overshadowed” by the Spirit, Elizabeth was filled when Mary greeted her (v41), and Zacharias was filled with the Spirit and prophesied (v67).  God was moving.

God’s activity in our world is not simply written history.  He continues to pour out His Spirit on us to accomplish His loving purposes.
