Luke 2
“Did you not know that I had to be in my Father’s house?” (v49). It had been 12 years since angels and visions and prophecies had announced that the baby Jesus was the Messiah. Mary and Joseph had been raising him quietly, and the Scriptures record nothing unusual about those first years. Perhaps His parents only remembered His birth as a special story, unconnected with everyday life, unconnected with an outwardly normal boy. But “the grace of God was upon Him” (v40).
In every-day life (as much as in cataclysmic moments), working and resting, learning and serving, God’s grace is at work in us, too.
