March 1: Romans 6

Romans 6

“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised … so we too might walk in newness of life” (v4).  As baptized believers, we are no longer helpless slaves to sin.  Jesus died to conquer sin, and by His power we also “put to death” the old life of serving ourselves and our sinful desires.  Jesus was raised, so we share in His new life, free to serve Him and to learn a new way of thinking, feeling, and doing (v13,14).

Jesus calls us to “walk in newness of life,” discovering the freedom and satisfaction of serving God.
