March 12: Exodus 16-18

Exodus 16-18

“I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel …” (16:12).   All along the journey through the wilderness, God provided food and water for the Israelites and gave them victory over their enemies.  But the Israelites made themselves miserable by their “grumblings”: their doubts, accusations, self-pity and anxiety.  They seldom simply believed and obeyed.  Some tried to hoard manna (16:23); others went out looking on the wrong day (v27).  God forgave and supplied, but they had a hard time receiving His provision.

Jesus said “Be anxious for nothing.”  Trusting Him, we can experience peace, even while on our own dangerous journey.
