Exodus 19-20
“I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself” (19:4). God brought the Israelites out of “the house of slavery” (20:2) in order to lead them to Himself. Their physical destination was Canaan, the Promised Land, but in a greater sense, God’s purpose was to create a “kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (v6). God wanted the Israelites to know Him, to serve Him, and to love Him, whether living inside or outside the Promised Land.
Through Jesus we have been brought into the family of God. He doesn’t call us to an organization or new social code, but to Himself.
