Esther 9-10
“And it was a month which was turned for them from sorrow into gladness and from mourning into a holiday” (9:22). The dramatic rescue of the Jews (with Esther and Mordecai’s help) from the hands of their enemies became commemorated in the yearly feast of Purim. Every year, the Jews remember how close they were to annihilation, and how Esther and Mordecai risked themselves to save their people (10:3). Like Passover, the celebration demonstrates God’s power through a historical event and also proves His character.
The God of Esther is our God. He is the Redeemer, who understands our brokenness and weakness, and turns our “sorrow into gladness.”
