Exodus 25-28
“And you shall put the mercy seat … in the holy of holies” (26:34). The tabernacle was a portable and elaborate place of worship. Acacia wood overlaid with gold and colored linen tapestries displayed the beauty of God. Certain areas were forbidden to anyone but priests, which emphasized God’s holiness. The “holy of holies” held the ark and the mercy seat, and only the high priest entered.
The tabernacle was a beautiful copy, but Jesus entered the real “holy place” in heaven (Heb 9:24). Through Him, we can confidently approach our holy God and find mercy and help (Heb 4:16).
