March 31: Job 8-9

Job 8-9

“If it is a matter of power, behold, He is the strong one!  And if it is a matter of justice, who can summon Him?” (9:19).  Though Job desperately wanted to plead his case against the “unfair” Creator, he knows that they cannot “go to court” as equals.  “It is God who removes the mountains … ” (8:6).  Job is helpless before the Creator.  He wishes for “an umpire between us,” a mediator (9:33).

No one could close the gap between God and us, except for God Himself.  Job’s cry, the cry of all humanity, was answered in Jesus, God the Son, reconciling the world to Himself (II Cor 5:19).
