March 6: I Chronicles 22-24

I Chronicles 22-24

"Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God ..." (22:19). Solomon's reign should have ushered in centuries of prosperity. King David had united the kingdom and defeated most of Israel's enemies (v17-18). Solomon was a man of peace, education and wisdom. David encouraged him to "Be strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed" (v13). But Solomon's enemies were internal, not external, and he failed to be victorious.

We have a powerful defense against the enemies (lust and ambition) that defeated Solomon: "Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord ..."
