Proverbs 3
“Do not let kindness and truth leave you … write them on the tablet of your heart” (v3). The proverbs are very practical, but they often contradict the wisdom of the world. “Our own understanding” (v5) tells us to excuse our mistakes, water down the truth, and serve ourselves rather than others. But the proverbs teach that the world’s values (selfishness and quick gratification) won’t lead to the life we want: the pleasant and peaceful path (v17).
Trusting God means rejecting selfishness, following His ways, and believing that He will make our paths straight (v6).
