Romans 8:1-25

“For in hope we have been saved …” (v24).  Forgiveness of sins is just the beginning of our new lives in Christ; we have “the first fruits of the Spirit” within us, and we are waiting for much more.  God promises that just as Jesus’ body was resurrected, so we will eventually live as resurrected people in a new earth.  We know that “the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God” (v19).

Jesus Christ the Son entered our broken world and defeated sin and death.  We “wait eagerly” (v25) for the completion of His work: our resurrection and the earth’s renewal.
