Romans 8:26-39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (v35).  For Paul, being saved meant being “with Christ.”  When we become reconciled to our Creator, we receive the Spirit of adoption in our hearts.  This means that we follow Christ, the firstborn, into God’s family (v29).  We are His fellow heirs (v17), and in some way we are even “seated in heavenly places” (Eph 2) with Christ by faith. 

We are so closely united with Jesus the Son that “neither death nor life … nor things present, nor things to come … shall be able to separate us from the love of God” (v38-39).
