I Corinthians 7

"Only, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk" (v17). Our primary "assignment" in life comes from God. Paul was speaking to people who carried heavy burdens of family, cultural, and religious expectations, and there were growing misconceptions about family life (v1). Paul's thesis was that to be married or to be single was equally holy before God. In each state, we must serve the Lord with whole-heartedness, keeping to the boundaries He has established.

As we are faithful to His calling, we can be content in any situation.
