Ecclesiastes 7-8
“Still I know it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly” (8:12). The “prophet” wasn’t sure about a lot of things. He had sought knowledge and wisdom (8:16-17), but he realized that even wisdom and good choices can’t save humanity from suffering (8:14, 7:14). Wisdom is better than sinful foolishness, but it is not the ultimate source of our peace or our salvation. As humans, no matter how hard we try, we can’t live perfectly or avoid the evil in the world (7:20).
What we do know is that “it will be well for those who fear God.” We are not alone in this life, and we are destined for a much better world.
