May 14: Ecclesiastes 9-10

Ecclesiastes 9-10

“It is the same for all” (9:2).  The “prophet” (probably King Solomon) was frustrated that everyone dies.  Rich or poor, hard-working or lazy, wise or foolish – no matter how many vitamins we swallow or healthy choices we make, we can only put it off for a few years (ch. 9,10).  Death is the great equalizer, reminding us that underneath the surface differences of culture, language, or wealth, we are exactly the same.

Jesus came to “deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives” (Heb 2:15). In Him, all who believe (rich or poor, wise or foolish) are set free.
