I Corinthians 11
“However, in the Lord, neither is woman independent of man, nor is man independent of woman … all things originate from God” (v12). Paul taught that God is the head and source of all. Under His headship, we all find our proper place. And within earthly families, Paul affirmed the leadership of husbands (v3). But while humans often equate leadership with control and solitary decision-making, Paul explained that men and women need each other and are inter-dependent (v11-12).
God made us for community and for worship. When we recognize Him as our Lord and submit to one another in love, our relationships develop the wholeness He desires.
