May 18: Mark 11:26-33

Mark 11:27-33

“By what authority are You doing these things …?” (v28).  The “chief priests, and scribes, and elders” were irritated because Jesus upset the order of society.  He didn’t have their seal of approval, and He wasn’t elite or well-educated.  But when He spoke, people listened, and when He commanded, demons fled.  Who gave Him permission to do these things?  Jesus reminded them of John the Baptist, killed by Herod but beloved by the people.  Who gave John permission to baptize?

Jesus and His followers turned the world upside down.  They didn’t’ have money, titles, or weapons – only God’s Spirit.
