Numbers 13-14
“Then all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night” (14:1). The men who investigated Canaan and returned with a fearful report were tribal leaders, heads of thousands of people. Their lack of faith caused many to doubt God and even consider returning to Egypt. They looked at the rich land, the beautiful fruit, and the strong enemies, and they simply didn’t believe God was powerful enough to help them.
Joshua and Caleb saw the same land through eyes of faith (v9). “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31).
