Numbers 17-18

“I am your portion and your inheritance among the sons of Israel”  (18:20).  God separated out Aaron’s family from Levi’s tribe to be priests – the only ones allowed to serve at the altar or behind the veil.  The other Levites were helpers, dedicated to “the obligations of all the tent” (18:3).  Together, the priests and Levites led the people in sacrifice and worship.  Because of human sin, no one else could get close to God.

 “But you have come … to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant” (Heb 12v22-24).   Now we can all enter the holy place without fear.
