I Corinthians 14

“So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church” (v12).  God gives us spiritual gifts to build up the whole Body.  Praying in tongues helps our private relationship with God (v1-2), but when we gather together, we need to build up one another (v26-28).  Prophecy edifies the church (v3-4), because prophets didn’t primarily predict the future, but rather they reminded people about God’s love and righteousness, already revealed in His Word.

“Let all things be done for edification” (v26).  When our motive is to bless one another, we can trust that God will work through us for His glory.
