Mark 14:1-31

“Why has this perfume been wasted?” (v4).  Some people were quick to condemn this woman for pouring perfume on Jesus’ head, perhaps wanting to sound holy by mentioning that its value would be better spent helping the poor (v5).  Jesus reminded them that they always had the opportunity of serving the poor (and perhaps had missed many opportunities!), but He was about to die.  This woman recognized something holy and precious about Jesus, and honored Him. 

When we focus on other people, it’s easy to criticize and feel self-righteous.  When our eyes are on Jesus, we worship Him.
