Song of Solomon 7-8
“Many waters cannot quench love, nor will rivers overflow it” (8:7). Celebrating the best of earthly love, this marriage-poem reveals our desire for a perfect, passionate, unbreakable relationship. While real life may be quite different (Solomon had thousands of women), the ideal is true: real love is better than wealth, and it should be “strong as death” (v6). Betrayal in a love relationship is terrible because our hearts know that God has designed us for faithfulness.
God Himself shows us that unquenchable love, stronger than death, is real. When we receive that love from Him, we begin to be able to give it to others.
