Proverbs 7
“Keep my commandments and live … write them on the tablet of your heart” (v3). The proverbs acknowledge the powerful forces of temptation. The devil comes “to steal, to kill, and to destroy”, but he looks very attractive. This passage warns young men to resist the lure of illicit sex, though it may seem convenient, desirable, and without consequences (v15-21). Other sins are similar; God-given desires for sex, affirmation, or security become twisted when we lose sight of God, our first love.
Renewing our spirits and minds daily (writing the ways of God on our hearts, v3) keeps us walking on the path of peace.
