Psalm 28
“The Lord is their strength; and He is a saving defense to His anointed” (v8). For the psalmist, God was never an abstract belief. He had shown Himself to be actively involved in human affairs, and this made life worth living. If God is not real, powerful, and responsive, “I become like those who go down to the pit” (v1). Those who ignore God’s reality will ultimately face the consequences: “He will tear them down and not built them up” (v5).
Our firm foundation is the fact that God is real and loves us: “My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped” (v7).
