May 31: I Corinthians 16

I Corinthians 16

“Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong; let all that you do be done in love” (v13).  As Paul finished his letter, he reminded the Corinthians of the twin needs for courage and love.  He reassured them that faith in Christ was worthwhile, now and for eternity: “Be steadfast, immovable ... knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord” (15:58).  He had also taught that love is more important than any supposed sacrifice or spiritual gift (ch 13).

As followers of Jesus, being “firm in the faith” and being guided by love are our foundations for life (v13).
