May 7: Leviticus 26-27

 Leviticus 26-27

“I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people” (v26:12).  God demonstrated His love by leading Israel personally through the wilderness and conquering their enemies in the Promised Land.  Yet, it was a rocky relationship.  God’s faithfulness never changed, but the Israelites were normal, sinful humans.  They experienced blessing, (v1-13); and they experienced punishment (v14-39).  Like us, they needed mercy.

In Christ, God invites everyone to be “His people.”  We rest securely in the New Covenant based on His sacrifice and holiness, not our own (Heb 9:15).
