May 8: Psalm 94

Psalm 94

“He who formed the eye, does He not see?” (v9).  The psalmist affirmed that God sees every injustice – those who “slay the widows” and “murder the orphans” – and will ultimately punish evildoers (v23).  The psalmist was also affirming that God sees the righteous, and He “will not abandon His people” (v14).  God knows the worries, conflicts, and grief that we walk through, and the psalmist declared, “Thy lovingkindness will hold me up” (v18).

The trouble of the present or the fear of the future can overwhelm us.  But “when my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Thy consolations delight my soul” (v19).
