1 Peter 4
“Therefore, let those also who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right” (4:19). According to Peter’s theology and experience, if believers followed Jesus’ example, they should expect spiritual and sometimes material opposition. “Do not be surprised” (v12), he said, that the same world which mocked Jesus also mocks His followers. Being radically different in speech and purity (v4) may bring either admiration or rejection.
In the end, our conduct will be judged by God Himself (4:5). We are called to do what is right in His sight, whatever the consequences.
